Some glass secrets in furniture production technology

By , 11 July, 2011, No Comment

Although the history of glass usage in furniture production has centuries-old way there is not any doubt that glass has made a revolution in contemporary furniture industry. Due to appeared technologies in manufacturing glass has gained new qualities and this made possible to produce dinner and coffee tables from glass, stands for home electronics (TV stands, entertainment centers) and many other furniture items. Especially manufactures glass surfaces became more durable and safe in usage.

Simple glass is manufactured by means of compounding of several inorganic elements. For its production processed glass, quartz sand (Si02), dross, dolomite and limestone is used. The heated and melted mass is cooled off up to room temperature within short period of time in order to avert crystallization which is significant for transparent glass receiving. The tempered glass is produced by its heating close on 650 degrees Celsius. Then it is cooled by specially directed air flows in the way the surface of glass can get cold faster than its inner mass. The cooling of an inner mass is continued under room temperature. During the process the compression of different temperature layers takes plays and then the changes of common qualities occur: the glass becomes more durable and if it breaks than the release of energy of heightened compression leads to formation of small and safe particles.

For the glueing of various glass surfaces the high-technology process with ultra violet radiation (UV – ultra violet light, the rays of 315 – 400 nanometres spectrum) is used. As a result of this glueing process the place of contiguity of surfaces stays colourless and transparent. Depending on type of glue the fastening can be rigid or elastic. For the gluing high-quality glue the durability of which much exceeds the solidity of glass is used. The main advantages of this process are the simplicity of its use, cleanness of production, stably high quality and short interval of time necessary for gluing. For its technological features glass furniture requires the following rules of care:

  • You should not put hot or very cold objects on glass surface. It is necessary to use trivets or special covering in order to prevent glass surface from direct physical contact of such objects.
  • You should not expose the glass surface to heighten loads and mechanical effects.
  • You should not hit the glass surface by hard and heavy objects.
  • It is necessary to use humid material (cloth) and dishwashing while maintenance of glass surface. You should not use laundry detergents or any other substances containing abrasive materials as they can scratch the glass.

Following these simple rules glass furniture will serve you for long period of time. I hope that this information will be of great use to you when choosing and using glass furniture in your home or office.

Your home interior in minimalism style

By , 20 June, 2011, No Comment

Minimalism has born in sixty years of XX century under the influence of Japanese traditional design which has been distinguishing from other designs with its clear accuracy and asceticism. In order to sustain interior in this style it is not enough just throw away junk and unnecessary furniture! In spite of seeming simplicity minimalism requires thorough examination of all details! And in order to begin this process you should firstly pay attention to an organization of your living space.  The less there will be partitions in your home the better it will be. Unite the kitchen, rooms and hallway into one space. Minimalistic interiors require wide space and large portions of light that is why if you have not giant French windows (from the floor to the ceiling) you need to think thoroughly the illumination. Choose one original chandelier or standard lamp and make lighting according to a ceiling perimeter. The floor and walls should be painted with light colors. And the main thing is: do not use any wallpapers with flowers, ruche and fringe. All should be extremely laconic: sofas and armchairs with one-color upholstery, the shelves of simple forms. For example if you would like to place a TV screen in your minimalistic room you should think of special contemporary TV stand of particular design, form and style. You can fearlessly combine natural and ultra-modern materials. The most important is that they should be of high quality. This style does not admit slapdash and carelessness. Each thing keeps its own place and implements particular function. There is few décor in interior and as a rule it can be just a couple of unusual designer’s objects. You should always remember that minimalism as any other style is the state of soul and mood. So before making it think about whether you are the person who really can live, relax and work in such conditions! Don’t only think about the fashion which many people pursue without conscious! Be the person who has sensible view of things, who estimates its real desires, strengths and opportunities and who knows that he is probably the luckiest person if he values all he or she has. Only in this case you will be the happiest human on Earth!

By , 11 June, 2011, No Comment

By what can boast of our way of life? By what our presence? Of course by high technologies! Hundreds of models of different home theatres and stereo systems were constructed by specialists during number of years! But do you know that there are not standard decisions for companies producing such kind of products! The sound must be the source of emotional satisfaction and harmony. The sound organization plays as an important role in home interior as form and color. With the sound coming outside and bringing irritation people had learned to manage by using sound proofing system! But how to manage with sound satisfying us? This is completely another question the answer on which we will give here in this article! Would you like to choose a home theatre? The process is really like buying an expensive car but with only one difference – the home theatre buying is the selection of the newest technologies!  Do you want to know what a home theatre is? Then you should go to the cinema! The matching of necessary equipment for the home theatre is not an easy task! It is very important to pay attention to all its components! The most considerable part of this set is of course the acoustics! The quality of acoustics has reached so high levels that it is very hard even to simple home theatre to compete with it! The loudspeaker system and the speakers of standard city cinema can not provide effective sound to all spectators evenly but the acoustic system of a home theatre can! You should spare neither strength nor resources when choosing acoustics for your home theatre! Do not forget that worthy acoustics can be produced only by companies which are busy with acoustic system production. Contemporary acoustic system divides into three types: classic, build in and designer’s system. Those who strive for maximum optimal ratio of price and quality can choose classic acoustic systems which are ordinary speakers unceremoniously invading into interior and seizing fairly good part of living area! It is hard to wonder anybody by this type of acoustics but anyway it is one of the most popular among consumers! Build in acoustics is serviced to supporters of cardinal decisions! Concealed in the walls this system is almost unnoticeable and it is distinguished by its sound! However it is very hard to install build in acoustics and it is much more harder to obtain required sound frequency. But the result is worth to these efforts! Exactly build in acoustic systems let not only maximum freely plan the living space assigned to home theatre but also to get more natural soundtrack of the film. The designer’s acoustics is specially created to draw attention! These are the devices of the most fanciful type which are made from glass, metal and plastic! The refined shapes of designer’s acoustics do not leave even the most cultivated aesthete indifferent to its look! And the sounding in the best formats will not frighten off fastidious music lover! In interior home theatres a compromise between appearance and quality of the acoustics has been considered as inevitable! Today the best patterns of designer’s acoustics not only look perfectly but also sound wonderfully! Such kinds of acoustics systems can become an advantageous element of the most advanced interior!

The design of sound

By , 8 June, 2011, No Comment

What is actually a design? Design is first of all the “echo” like a reflection of our individuality. With the appearance of this concept in our life the idea of an area interior has also transformed. Now we have an opportunity to ponder over acoustic design for acoustic system installation and to think about audio and video equipment integration into single set in accordance with design of particular area.  First of all we are to say that there are no rooms which are not suit for good sound. The good and comfort sound can be achieved in almost every area even if it is a very small room of 6 square meters, stadium or a bathroom.  It is very important to decide this question with complete seriousness and do not search for compromises. You should think about acoustic design on a stage of interior project and the earlier you will do this the better the result will be. The integration of equipment into the ready interior – is the compromise where you will have to adjust equipment to available conditions although in this case some interesting decisions also can be worked out. For example I’ve read in technical magazine that there was a case when a flat screen TV was specially made in trapezium form in order to have the opportunity to place ii in special made TV wall unit. Also there was case when a remote control was specially made according to customer’s hand. And you know that in order to make this remote control the hand print and the draft of the remote control were sent to the company in Denmark. But there is the only inconvenience of such kinds of experiences – these are the periods of time which too long for orders’ implementation. Let us examine the home theatre in parts from the standpoint of its matching to the design. For this purpose we will take definite home areas where we will install equipment.

High quality sound and the acoustics of place

Let us imagine the working study with finishing from red timber which disposes to quiet atmosphere. For example for this area stuff and aggressive sound won’t promote to the creation of business atmosphere. Thus the acoustic should be designed in such a way in order to match the interior not only in appearance but also in character of sounding. From the point of view of softness and comfort we can of course say that English and Dutch speaker producers are the most popular and among them very interesting from the point of view of design and sound developed devices can be found. And the amplifying part (one or more sound buffers) can be put into shape of wood or for example “gold”.

A living room

If your living room is designed in Techno – Art style and such kinds of materials as glass, ceramics and aluminium prevail in it is absolutely clear to us that elite sounding speakers of classical style will look very fancifully and improperly. For this reason it is worth to think about speakers and equipment made of light color wood material and glass-aluminium constructions. To the point producers of speakers count nearly ten light wood color tints of such kinds of speakers.  Knowing this fact we can say that it is possible to select the necessary color tint with highly accuracy. It is worth to point out that in this article we want to emphasis exactly on equipment quality and its features and not to stress much time on designers developments in equipment sphere as we consider that if the equipment is beautiful it should justify its destination according to the sound in other case it is just an element of décor. You should concord that it is very pleasant to receive for your money not only the chic appearance but also the high quality to it. Trust us it is possible to achieve with serious approach to the matter. I would like to tell about some unconventional idea of equipment placement even if it is kitchen or a bathroom. However it is worth to say that while thinking about sound installation in these areas you should consider the strict requirements: moisture-resistance and steadiness to high temperatures. And in addition if the place (kitchen, bathroom) finished with glazed tiles then you should consider that there may be some excessive sound frequency and echo responses which you are to eliminate. The speakers for kitchen can be as built in the wall so as worked out as picture frames matching the whole color of interior. If you have to install the sound system in the swimming pool here you should take care of speakers’ placement as water perfectly reflects the sound.

Kid’s room and bedroom

First of all here we are to take care of the sound which should not press the state of mind and it should create the feeling of comfort. If you need a home theatre then the TV must have double frequency scanning (100 hz.) as it will let to change the frame on the screen two times quicker and our eyes will not get tired. If you think about the 3D screen then the change of frames must be not less than 120 (60 on each eye). In kid’s room it is possible to use game boxes as a sound source in home theatre.

Powerfulness of acoustics should correspond to the dimensions and the style of a place. It is worth to point out that the powerfulness of acoustic systems is not the predetermination of their quality. The main goal of such kinds of efforts is the comfort and harmony in listening. Generally the home theatre with full sound can be settled in open air (on lawn near our house). However the equipment here should be adapted to operation out of the door. You can set a home theatre in automobile for example although it is not full valued home theatre. Though we are to confess to our own that it is very pleasant to go for a picnic while watching favourite film with good multi-channel quality of sound.  Unfortunately, the big sized TV can not be placed in a car!

What is a house actually? It is only the carcass of your home! Your home is the inner world of the house which is filled up with soul, memories, warmth and comfort. However from what originates this comfort? I don’t think that only from memories it comes! Home interior is the very nature of our decor! And of course it comes from furniture and style! Probably you have never thought about furniture origin even with furniture being such a big part of your homes and lives. Now you can be probably amazed with some facts about furniture history which varies from civilization to civilization. The first traces of the crudest form of furniture are found in the prehistoric times, when man was still learning to farm. They built stones houses as well as stone furniture. However, the Ancient Egyptian civilization furniture bore the most resemblance to our modern day furniture. The rich had comfortable homes and wooden furniture, while, the poor lived in mud houses with stone furniture. Wicker is, basically, any material woven into a rigid pattern to form any kind of furniture.

The materials usually used for wicker furniture are flexible branches, grass or vine, as well as, willow, bamboo, rattan, reed or synthetic materials such as plastic. Wicker is very popular for outdoor wicker furniture, wicker patio and porch furniture.

Colors in Mission style: you will need to consider natural colors: greens, yellows and especially browns will be great for mission style room. No bright colors – there should be a harmony in everything. You can, moreover, use the tones and shades of the same color. The most popular tones are oak, walnut and cherry.

Several Reasons why we for choosing reclaimed wood furniture for Home Decor

By , 11 April, 2011, No Comment

May be all this time you have been reading this articles you were wondering why it is worth to acquire the reclaimed wooden furniture. I think the probability of that is very high! Let us together about this strange question! May be we’ll find some answers. Anyway let us take an attempt of doing that. Firstly, besides being environmentally friendly, reclaimed products comes with a unique character of its own, which can never be found in new wood. The antique appeal imparted by wood to the interior decor of a home is simply unparalleled. These days, an increasing number of people are using reclaimed wood for flooring, furniture, decking, and other architectural details in their houses or offices. The reclaimed furniture is a better choice for home decor mainly due to the following reasons:

  • Aesthetic and antique appeal – the furniture made of reclaimed wood looks aesthetically rich and the antique appeal comes with it naturally
  • Eco-friendly option – those who are concerned about the rapid deforestation, sudden climatic changes, global warming and other environmental concerns love reclaimed wood for its Eco-friendliness
  • Stability and durability – made of wood reclaimed from the 19th century textile mills, tobacco warehouses, grain elevators, wooden dams, and other long standing buildings, the furniture made of reclaimed-wood is certainly sturdier and more durable than any other wood
  • Cost effectiveness – reclaimed wood is a cost effective option compared to the fresh wood

Today there are many companies offering low cost for reclaimed wood furniture. However you should not think that low cost is the equality to the low quality. You are wrong if you think such a way. To be more precise, the low cost comes from the economy of the expenses made on work force and a retail facility. The savings made this way are translated in to huge discounts for the customers. Thus be very attentive and scrupulous when buying reclaimed furniture.  You can choose any furniture piece you really need: TV stand, table, chair, bed, console, cabinet etc.

All that was said above is really nice and useful, but don’t forget that anyway new furniture is new one and no one can have an argument against this fact. Before making a decision think whether it is worth to use reclaimed furniture or it is better to purchase the new one which in comparison with the recycled furniture has more long probability to last and serve for several generations.

By , 5 April, 2011, No Comment

Today glass is used for furnishing thousands items: coffee tables, transparent shelves, racks, bar furniture etc. Being natural material, glass adds a light flavor of elegance and sophistication to any room of the house. One of the main advantages of glass furniture is their transparency: if you bring in the living room fashionable coffee table or TV stand, you will create an illusion of space and your room will look larger.

Glass furniture is extremely durable until you do not try to break it! You should polish it regularly and the furniture will have fresh, elegant look for years to come.  However, we do not advice you to fill the room only with glass pieces: it may have an uninviting and cold look. In order to avoid this effect you can combine glass pieces with wood or plastic furniture.

For contemporary style homes, one can choose the glass dining table or buffet with glass doors. It will add some hi-tech notes to the dining room. Glass furniture never goes out of style and the dining table will be always as beautiful and fabulous as on the day you have bought it. One more advantage of glass furniture is lower prices if compared to wood furniture. You will be enjoying the fresh and modern look glass coffee table or glass TV stand will create in your home!

By , 1 April, 2011, No Comment

Have you ever thought about bringing to your bedroom some minimalist style and furniture? If you decide to refresh your home or bedroom, first you will need to consider which existing furniture you will need and what you want to get rid of. Moreover, you should take into consideration that traditional furniture usually does not coordinate with minimalist furniture, so there is no need to keep them together.

Space and light are 2 essential components of minimalist design. So, you will need to create an ideal place to sleep while using few pieces of furniture; the main idea is to bring just essential pieces: bed, dresser and may be a nightstand. The bed usually does not have any outstanding details; instead, it has much space to save your things. Find pieces that feature clean, strict lines – you will get unforgettable look; the same about nightstand and dresser.

If speaking about lighting, it is better to prefer light colors rather than dark ones. And, walls can feature white shades and seem to be almost sterile! If you bring the furniture that will be in contrast to the walls, it will create the balance of the colors.

If you have decided to update the bedroom to minimalism, we advice you not to go to interior designers, but decorate your room yourself!
